About Us
Since its beginnings in 1931 the Northside Church of the Nazarene has sought to live up to the standard of being a "Wesleyan-Holiness" church.

We are Wesleyan in that our denomination has aligned itself with the teaching of John Wesley, the founder of the Methodist Church.  Mr. Wesley taught that everyone could have a restored relationship to the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit through the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the Cross.  Further, Mr. Wesley held that God's grace did not end there.  He proposed that after accepting Jesus as Lord and Savior a Christian is able to completely surrender their lives to Christ and be sanctified (set apart) by the power of the Holy Spirit.  This second work of grace progressively continues as the Christian allows God to make them more like Jesus.

We are a holiness church in that we feel stangely called to lives of complete devotion to Jesus Christ.  That devotion leads us to seperate ourselves from the trappings of the world and be devoted to the work of the ministry.  Reaching out to the poor, meeting the needs of the hurting, and helping those that have hit bottom are what we like to do best.  We take great joy in introducing others to the great hope that we have in Jesus Christ.

We deeply desire the sense of community that is felt when the church comes together.  Whether it is a Sunday Morning Worship Service or a small group Bible study we treasure the fellowship of believers in its various forms.

We emphasize the need for daily surrender of the believer to the will of God for further growth.  This is done through personal prayer, time spent in God's Word, and worship.

We also sense the great need to be serving those in our community through acts of loving kindness.  We regularly participate in servant evangelism projects to simply remind others of God's love.  We also partner with the Salvation Army Food Pantry and the Danville Rescue Mission to reach out to those who need a helping hand.
